This weekend was just shy of perfection. In fact, the only flaw I can find is the current state of my house. It seems to be caving in around me. (I'm typing this next to a pile of clean diapers that need to be stuffed and put away!) Let me explain:
Not only was this weekend cold, thus requiring yummy comfort foods and bundly (yes, I just made that word up) clothes, it was Addie's birthday AND Mizzou's homecoming. Friday night we ate homemade fettuccine alfredo and chocolate chip pie before going to house decs. Saturday, we woke up at the crack of dawn to enjoy the homecoming parade, muffins and coffee in hand. Addie could only take so much (turning two is a very emotional occasion) so we went home to warm up and catch a little bit of Nemo before heading to her cousins' birthday party. Have I mentioned that before? Addie's cousins, Jane and Lucy, are exactly one year older. Pretty cool, right?! Saturday night I went ALL OUT (sarcasm, people) and made her birthday dinner - breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, and even some smoothies made out of old frozen fruit. Delicious, and Addie agreed. Sunday we lazed around, eating a small breakfast before going to Jeff City to dine on Addie's favorite food of all time - fried chicken. (She is her mother's daughter.) After consuming our lunch, we ventured around the Missouri Capitol building and then headed to the famous Central Dairy for a shared ice cream sundae. Like I said, perfection!
Before I conclude, I should tell you two things. 1) I can't believe I just admitted to you every single thing I ate this weekend. I should probably do a juice cleanse or run a mile just so you won't worry about me. 2) It has EVERYTHING to do with this book I'm reading, A Homemade Life. I will tell you more later, but for now know that I cannot put it down and all I want to do is make and eat food.
Whew! That was some writing. Now, the pictures...
