Homemade Chocolate Cinnamon Ice Cream

As you may know, one thing on my summer bucket list is to eat LOTS and LOTS of ice cream! I haven’t done as good a job at this as I should, but I’m working on it. We had a rainy day last week, in which I spent most of the afternoon whipping up some lovely things in the kitchen. One of those lovely things was this to-die-for homemade chocolate cinnamon ice cream. It was an experimental recipe for me. I took my basic vanilla ice cream recipe and added chocolate and cinnamon and more chocolate until it tasted like what I was imagining in my head. It was perfection, my friends. Whether you are spending a night alone on your couch or next to your favorite person on the planet, this ice cream will do you some good…

2 C whole milk
3/4 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 C heavy cream
1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 TBSP cinnamon
1 C chopped good quality chocolate

In a large bowl, mix together the milk, sugar, and vanilla until the sugar is dissolved. Add the cream and stir. Pour into the bowl of your ice cream maker and turn it on. Slowly pour in the cocoa powder and cinnamon. At first it will look like a powdery mess, but don’t worry! It will soon come together. Allow to spin for 15-20 minutes. When the ice cream begins to freeze and thicken, add the chocolate chunks. Let it spin for 5 more minutes, then transfer to a container with a lid. Freeze for 2-4 hours, then eat it up!
